John Canada

John is a sophomore at the University of Alabama. This will be the second year that he has worked in Robin Roger’s Research Group. Though the junior member of our COP team, he has already given a talk at the ACS meeting in Anaheim and presented a poster at the Congress on Ionic Liquids in Washington about his work on Edible Ionic Liquids.

Kiersten Deblaker

Kiersten is a senior Forensic Chemistry major at York College of Pennsylvania with a minor in psychology.  She plans to pursue her graduate education in Forensic Psychology. She has served as treasurer for the YCP student Chemistry Society for two years and served as a student lab assistant. She is a full time student and works five days a week at a local restaurant. In her spare time she enjoys participating in intramural soccer and volleyball.

Matt DeNardo

Matt obtained his BSc. in Chemistry with a Bioscience option from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008.  Upon graduation he enrolled in the PhD program of the Department of Chemistry at Carnegie Mellon University where he works under the supervision of Dr. Terrence Collins towards the synthesis and evaluation of novel and existing Fe-TAML activators of hydrogen peroxide.  In his spare time he indulges in disc golf, biking, and recreational kayaking.

Patrick Lestrange

Patrick is a senior Chemistry major at York College of PA. He is a co-Outreach Chair for the YCP Chemistry Society and is preparing for a graduate program in theoretical chemistry starting Fall 2012.  Current research includes a calibration study of theoretical methods of modeling VCD spectra.  He has run a qualifying time for the Women's Olympic Trial Marathon (but, he is not optimistic that they will let him race it).

Lauren McCullough

Lauren is a fourth year student at Penn State University studying Chemical Engineering with a minor in Environmental Engineering. She is a resident assistant in the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State, a member of the Presidential Leadership Academy led by Penn State President Graham Spanier, and involved in the Engineering Leadership Development Program. She has conduct undergraduate research involving sustainable water treatment technology for developing nations. Her interests include travelling, volunteering at a local animal shelter, and being with friends and family.
